An invitation from the scientific chairs

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of our Scientific Committee, we should like to invite you to attend the SIU 2010 meeting, October 13 to 16, which will be held in Marrakech, one of Morocco’s most intriguing and exciting ancient cities. The meeting has the twin themes of urology in Africa and lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD).

The SIU is delighted that PAUSA, the Pan-African Urological Surgeons’ Association, has agreed to take on an active role at the meeting, and to organize the programme in conjunction with the SIU. The meeting will open with the PAUSA symposium, to be followed by courses on vesico-vaginal fistulae, chaired by Dr. Serigne Gueye, and urodynamics, led by Dr. Sherif Mourad.

Once again, the SIU and ICUD have joined to present a Consultation on Urethral Strictures, chaired by our friend and colleague, Dr. Gerald Jordan. The Consultation findings will be published as a supplement to Urology in 2011.

The theme of LUTD will be tackled by speakers of international repute and cover the subjects of overactive bladder, vesico-vaginal fistulae, bladder and pelvic pain, post-prostatectomy incontinence, male voiding dysfunction, female stress incontinence, and neuro-urology. We have asked session chairmen to use case histories to illustrate the dilemmas of both investigation and treatment, in order to highlight the many controversies in these areas of urology. There will also be surgical tips to complement most sessions.

We welcome the submission of abstracts dealing with the various aspects of LUTD and will seek to weave these into the structure of the meeting.

We are very grateful to Professor Redouane Rabii and his Local Organizing Committee, co-chaired by Professor Abdennabi Joual, for the fine job they have done in coordinating a social programme that highlights the best of Marrakech.
