Entry Requirements

Most EU citizens only need their national identity card or passport to enter Germany. Non-EU citizens require a valid passport to enter Germany, but many countries are exempt from tourist visas. It is essential that you check with the German embassy or consulate in your country before travelling. Without exception, passports must be valid for at least four months after your planned date of departure from Germany.

The SIU will not directly contact embassies and consulates on behalf of applicants. It is the sole responsibility of the delegates to look after their visa requirements.

Getting to the SIU

Berlin’s Tegel airport is the main international point of entry, and is located 8km (5 mi.) northwest of the city. A taxi from the airport to the city should be no more than €20, for a 15-20-minute ride. Public transport is easy to find and available for about €2. Berlin’s Central Train Station is also a convenient way into the city for European travellers.

For private transfers to and from your hotel and the airport, please contact our partners at Interplan: SIU2011@interplan.de
